Medical Radiography Program

WELCOME TO THE Medical Radiography Program AT UTAH TECH UNIVERSITY!

Medical radiographers or radiologic technologists are medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. Medical radiographers practice in hospitals, clinics and physician’s offices, and in many clinical specialties, from prenatal care to orthopedics. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety and patient care.

Due to the unique structure and accreditation of each radiography program, the Medical Radiography Program at Utah Tech University does not accept transfer students from other medical radiography programs.

Certification & Licensure

Graduates of the Utah Tech University Medical Radiography Program are eligible to apply for certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), which is the nationally recognized standard of the profession. The education requirement for eligibility is an earned associate’s degree or higher and completion of an ARRT-approved educational program. More information on certification can be found at arrt.org/earn-arrt-credentials/requirements.

Most states require technologists to be licensed by that state in which they work; more information regarding state specific guidelines can be found at asrt.org/main/standards-and-regulations/legislation-regulations-and-advocacy/individual-state-licensure. Utah licensure information for radiological technologists can be obtained at dopl.utah.gov/rad.
